Minisode 001 - A Look Back, As We Look Ahead
Wednesday Dec 30, 2015
Wednesday Dec 30, 2015
A 51-minute "mini-sode" this week as Epic Film Guy Nick flies solo, and we essentially bridge the gap between the Reel Rundown podcast and the re-branded Epic Film Guys podcast next week with our best (and worst!) of 2015 episode. As a nice treat to close out the year for you all, I decided to dip back into our video archives when Justin and I lived near one another and threw in the audio from some of our reviews from the earlier days of the Epic Film Guys. Safe to say that some things have changed, but some remain the same!
We do also discuss our new challenge for the month of January, thanks to listener Jarrod Taylor! We'll be doing "Just 90s January," where we invite you to pick ten films released in the month of January- five you have seen, five you haven't- and give them a watch. That's it! We look forward to more challenges in the future as well as awards season fast-approaches. I'll also take a moment to shout out everyone who participated in our Dust-it-off December challenge, along with our thanks for taking part!

Episode 026 - Our Epic Star Wars: The Force Awakens Debate!
Thursday Dec 24, 2015
Thursday Dec 24, 2015
One week ago, our Epic Film Guys were primed with excitement for the opening of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. After the show, the two had vastly different reactions: Justin loved it so much he has since seen it a further two times, and Nick was so disappointed that he scrapped any plans for a repeat viewing. The battleground is set as we provide our full, spoiler-filled review of The Force Awakens!
We also look ahead to next week's best of 2015 episode, where we'll be counting down our best (and worst!) of the year. As much as we agree on things sometimes, expect two very different lists. We also discuss the further re-branding of the podcast on this final episode of the Reel Rundown. This week in Epic Previews, we're reviewing trailers for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and the "spiritual" sequel to Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some!

Episode 025 - The Force Awakens TONIGHT!!
Thursday Dec 17, 2015
Thursday Dec 17, 2015
Twelve short hours from the moment this podcast goes live, Nick and Justin will be sitting down for a day that many of us hoped would come after the end of the prequels, and for three years since we learned it was finally going to happen. It has been a long journey and the world is so saturated with Star Wars merchandise that it is probably floating in a ring in orbit! We take one last look at the saga that precedes The Force Awakens with our official rankings of the films, and we'll discuss what we're looking forward to with the next installment in the Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you!
We've also got a lot of trailers to cover in our new segment, Epic Previews! Tonight we're taking a look at the trailers for X-Men: Apocalypse, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Star Trek: Beyond. We'll keep this as a regular feature on the podcast so you know where to turn for the latest in film.
The Golden Globe nominations were released in the week since our last show, so we'll be taking a look back at the nominees and what we think of who is on the list, and those that didn't quite make the cut. All this, and we've got some exciting changes to announce for the podcast in 2016, including some crossover news and some new segments we'll be introducing as we go forward. We've got a lot of exciting things to look forward to and we want to thank YOU for your support as we turn in our twenty-fifth episode and we are just under a half year old.
Not to be forgotten, Dust it off December continues! We want to thank everyone that has participated and is still participating in the challenge. Keep us updated on your progress and we'll announce everyone's full lists at the end of the month. Even if you don't hit ten films, the important part is participating! I'll be dusting off some holiday classics in the week leading up to Christmas once all the Star Wars craziness dies down.
If you want to find us, check out all of our past episodes on iTunes, Stitcher, and Spreaker, and over at epicfilmguys.podbean.com. While you're at it, please head over to iTunes and rate our podcast, and help us reach a wider audience: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rundown/id1027239734. We appreciate your support!
I want to give a special thanks to our brothers in Perth and in podcasting, Wayne and Paul from the Countdown, for the special promo they cut for us. Check out their latest episode where they count down the worst films of 2015, and please make your way to iTunes and give them a rating and help them grow! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/countdown-movie-tv-reviews/id979577413. If you're a fan of our show, you've got to check them out, they are amazing.
A big thank you and shout-out as well to Emily and James of the Classy Little Podcast. They're on a holiday hiatus right now, but expect them to return in 2016 with new episodes where they enjoy wine and cheese and cram you full of knowledge. In the meantime please check out their latest episode, Cheers to Gifts, for some awesome holiday gift ideas AND don't forget to rate them on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/classy-little-podcast/id1019422584.

Episode 023 - Star Wars Celebration & Batman v Superman trailer reaction!
Thursday Dec 03, 2015
Thursday Dec 03, 2015
A very happy December to all of our listeners out there! With the start of December we have begun our official countdown to Star Wars Episode VII, and all of our podcasts through the opening weekend will be Star Wars themed in honor of this franchise that we (and so many of you!!) love so much. Tonight, we're rattling off our worst moments from the Star Wars saga. Look for our best and worst characters next week and our best moments, and our FULL lead-up episode before we see The Force Awakens live the night of December 17th! We're both brimming with excitement for the next chapter in the saga, and we hope to hear from all of you about yours as well.
Our original plan was to do the best and worst tonight, BUT, we got derailed by the live premiere of the Batman v. Superman trailer!! We watch it live and react to it for the first time for you guys right here on the podcast. Needless to say, we're over the moon!
Our Never Seen It November challenge has come to an end! We want to thank all of you who participated in the challenge whether you finished or not, the important thing is you took the time to check out a film or films you hadn't had a chance to see before. The votes are in and we are proud to announce our December challenge: Dust-it-off December! Ten films that you've seen before, but not for quite awhile. Dust it off and give it another watch, and see how you feel about it! Same rating? Better? Worse? As usual, let us know what you're watching and we'll shout you out in the podcast.
Justin took a trip to the theater and checked out Creed, the latest film in the Rocky franchise. And, not to be forgotten, Marvel dropped the first full trailer from Civil War! Epic Film Guy Nick hasn't watched it yet, so he takes the opportunity to watch the trailer and comment on it LIVE!
