Episode 069 - Our John Carpenter Retrospective!
Thursday Oct 27, 2016
Thursday Oct 27, 2016
Happy Halloween, everyone!!! All month long to now we've been celebrating everything horror, with our opening music to our Horror Challenge and the change from the Dose of Dangerfield over to the weekly horror clip. Last week, we aired Justin's interview with Cody Carpenter, and this week, we're celebrating one of the true icons of horror, his father, John Carpenter!! However, we could not undertake this kind of a tribute alone, and we've invited our good friends, Paul & Wayne from the Countdown Movie & TV Reviews back in the show for a mega John Carpenter retrospective!
With our good friends from Perth here we'll also be discussing some movie news and we're looking at two trailers in Epic Previews; we've got the first teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and we're looking at the trailer for Hugh Jackman's last turn as Wolverine in the r-rated Logan. We've also got week six of Where in the World is the Lisp, and we're airing your voicemails with your Fanviews clips!
All this, and of course, we'll be running down the final week of the Epic Film Guys horror challenge with shout-outs for everything everyone has watched over the past week. While we'll continue updating the website with everyone's picks through October 31st, this will be the last week we're reading them on the air. We also have your week six clip for Where in the World is the Lisp... we're getting closer to finding out where he's been hiding! We'll see you at the movies!

Episode 068 - Justin Interviews Cody Carpenter!
Thursday Oct 20, 2016
Thursday Oct 20, 2016
A few weeks ago, Justin got the chance to sit down with Cody Carpenter, son of legendary horror and cult film director John Carpenter. We've got the entire interview as they talk about his music career as well as growing up with his famous father; it begins at about 19:23 and runs to approximately 39:30, if you want to skip ahead and check it out.
We got two amazing treats for the show this week... Emily, formerly of the Classy Little Podcast, joined us on the call just to hang out, and we're giving a huge shout-out to her not only for her work on the Where in the World is the Lisp game, but also for her new show: The Story Behind, which will be debuting later this month. She has begun to assemble the prize pack for the WITWITL game, and you're easily going to get nearly $75 in prizes. If you haven't started yet, you've got a few weeks of clues left to submit to get in on this prize pack. Start playing NOW!!
The biggest movie news of the week has to be the release of the final Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, and what a trailer this was! It has the same gritty feel of the first two trailers, calming fears that the production woes on this film may not prove detrimental to its overall quality after all. This episode is jam-packed with podcast-y goodness!
We are over halfway through the month of October now, and the Epic Film Guys horror challenge continues! Many have crossed the finish line past ten films and are trying to complete the 31-day version of the challenge, basically a movie a day for the month. Wow! Thank you so much to everyone who is taking part in the challenge. Keep in mind, this episode lands on October 20th, so even if you start the day this drops, you can watch a film a day and still destroy the challenge! Check your progress over at http://www.epicfilmguys.com/horrorchallenge2016. We'll also be playing some Fanviews clips this week with your progress! Remember, if you want to call in your picks instead, we'll air them on the show! Or, if you just have something else to get off your chest, dial us up at 607.444.1473.
Finally this week, Patrick Sherwood has made another Hobster shirt, further fueling the out-of-control ego of the drunken bum. Will he finally take it too far? Justin talks about his trip back home (including a brief stop in to see Epic Film Guy Nick) and the Halloween horror marathon in 35mm in Syracuse, and Nick will talk a little bit about what he's been up to as well. Thank you so much for listening- we'll see you at the movies!!

Episode 067 - The Horror of the (Lord) Hobster
Thursday Oct 13, 2016
Thursday Oct 13, 2016
While on a recent trip to Buffalo, I stumbled across a beer that will only serve to further fuel the out-of-control ego of the Hobster. Can it possibly be contained? On this week's episode, we are reviewing FOUR huge trailers in Epic Previews in the back half of the show, most of which dropped at NYCC this past weekend. We're taking a look at the Keanu Reeves action sequel John Wick Chapter 2, the final installment of the Resident Evil franchise starring Milla Jovovich, the indie thriller I am Not a Serial Killer starring Christopher Lloyd, and Justin has some choice words for the first teaser for Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Also this week, we're playing your Fanviews voicemails, including answering a challenge that was thrown down at Epic Film Guy Nick for some disagreement about the quality of Star Trek over on twitter. Will he accept Jason's (of Pat & Jason Binge Movies) challenge to debate Star Trek, or is he just not looking to go where so many have gone before?
We'll also be checking in on the horror challenge this week, talking about the films that you're watching. We've even got a Fanviews call-in for one check-in, and if you'd like to check-in your own films, please call the hotline at 607.444.1473 and drop us a line. The Where in the World is the Lisp game is also officially half over, but you can still enter to win the prize pack being offered by Emily- every correct answer is another entry in the contest! Thank you for listening, and we'll see you at the movies!

Episode 066 - Hobster Halloween
Thursday Oct 06, 2016
Thursday Oct 06, 2016
It's the first week of October, so we're rolling out ALL of the horror stops for this week's show! We're premiering a segment for this month where we'll recap what we've watched for the Epic Film Guys #HorrorChallenge and we'll shout-out everyone that has kept us up on their progress. For the sake of my sanity, please respond with your picks to the daily tweets going out every afternoon or to specific posts on the facebook page... it's too difficult to chase down everyone's picks!
This week, Epic Previews returns again to talk two trailers... the first we'll review is the fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell no Tales. Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom all return and are joined by Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar. The second trailer is for a film directed by and starring Denzel Washington in an adaptation of August Wilson's Fences. He will be joined by Viola Davis, and both of them reprise roles they won Tony awards for back in 2010.
Finally this week, with a title like "Hobster Halloween," we know he's bound to show up, and a superfan of the podcast is now sporting his very own Hobster swag. Will his ego start to get out of control? Stay tuned to find out!
