Episode 065 - Classy Little Tribute
Thursday Sep 29, 2016
Thursday Sep 29, 2016
Happy International Podcast Day! Tomorrow (09/30) is a day to celebrate podcasts and podcasting, so to celebrate this week we'll be shouting out to some of our favorite shows, as well as talking about your favorite moments/episodes of the podcast & playing your fanviews clips of the same. As we do each and every week, we have to thank you very much for listening and supporting us in as many ways as you do.
Speaking of podcasting, however, we say goodbye to a podcast that has been infinitely influential to ours- the Classy Little Podcast has officially said goodbye. To thank them and remember them, especially Emily for how much her influence helped to shape the Epic Film Guys podcast, I've put together a little tribute to their show.
Last week on the show we mentioned that we were recording a day early so Justin could attend a book signing by his favorite scream queen of all time, Jamie Lee Curtis! Well, the pictures have already popped up on social media, but he's got quite the story to tell about meeting this iconic actress!
We're also setting the stage everyone, so GET READY for the Epic Film Guys Horror Challenge!! Justin will, as last year, be watching 31 movies for the 31 days of October, but we're not asking our fans to go that far. Instead we're just asking you to watch ten. Pick five films you've never seen before, and another five that are your favorites, and watch them throughout the month of October. We'll keep a dedicated page on the website for the horror challenge at http://www.epicfilmguys.com/horrorchallenge2016 and track everyone's progress. Let us know what you're watching on social media or by calling Fanviews at 607.444.1473 and letting us know, and you'll get a shout-out on the show!
Last but not least, this week we're looking at two trailers in Epic Previews- first up, the trailer for the sci-fi thriller Passengers starring Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence, and then Nick almost goes into a rant over the teaser for Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johannson. Thank you so much everyone for listening- we'll see you at the movies!!

Episode 064 - Tap that Pumpkin!
Thursday Sep 22, 2016
Thursday Sep 22, 2016
Justin returns and reminds our listeners that, as penance for my consumption of a single can of Bud Light, I'll be forced to drink an entire six pack of pumpkin beer during next month's horror challenge, and I couldn't be more horrified. We recorded a day early this week as Justin took a trip to New Jersey to meet his favorite scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis! By the end of the first segment, we welcome a familiar face officially into our Epic Film Guys family as Justin prepares to launch the B-Sides minisodes, starting with Critters, which is coming very soon.
I decided to give everyone another week to play the "Where in the World is the Lisp" game- send your answers to this week's clue to us either by DM on twitter, by email, or by message on facebook. There are prizes at stake, so don't give away the answers- play to win! For the next seven weeks we'll be posting a new clip, and we want to thank Emily from the Classy Little Podcast for coming up with this amazing idea.
The show ends this week with three trailer reviews in Epic Previews, one of which has Nick ranting yet again about gratuitous 3D. We'll take a look at trailers for Underworld: Blood Wars, Live by Night from Ben Affleck, and the new Amy Adams film, Nocturnal Animals. Thanks so much for listening, and we'll see you at the movies!

On this installment of the Epic Film Guys Cinema Beat, we're reviewing the film Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. On January 15, 2009, Captain Sullenberger and his crew's actions, and the actions of first responders, saved the lives of 155 passengers and crew after he was forced to land Flight 1549 in the Hudson River only minutes after takeoff.

Episode 063 - We're Not Too Old for This S#@%!
Thursday Sep 15, 2016
Thursday Sep 15, 2016
Justin is camped out near a local Mac-Donald's waiting for some free double cheese this week, so tonight I am joined by good friend and brother to the show, Paul from the Countdown Movie and TV reviews, who has graciously agreed to step in as co-host for tonight's podcast.
This week's show is all about four wonderful action comedies from an era when Mel Gibson was a #1 commodity in Hollywood and Joe Pesci hadn't retired- we're talking about all things Lethal Weapon! We'll talk about our favorite moments from the four films and talk ever-so-briefly about the coming TV series, which is as good an excuse as any for another edition of Nick's Rants.
I want to thank Paul for stepping up and filling in for Justin while he takes a week off from the show; initially he was going to guest on the show with both of us, but after Justin decided to take a short break Paul was more than willing to fill in. I am eager to hear from Justin next week as we prepare to launch the Epic Film Guys B-Sides, a minisode series wherein Justin and a random co-host will look at glorious B-movies of all kinds with a review and retrospective.
Thanks so much for listening, and we'll see you at the movies!

Episode 062 - The Summer of Suck
Thursday Sep 08, 2016
Thursday Sep 08, 2016
Though we had recorded a segment some weeks back with Kevin of Picture Lock and Dan of Netflix n Swill, we actually decided to kick the "end of summer movie season" can down the road until the end of August to give ourselves a chance to round out a lackluster summer for film and hopefully see something else that might register on our list. I think the results speak for themselves, and while August was able to give us a slight improvement, the summer definitely goes to the indies and the horror flicks. Blockbusters across the board were disappointing save for Civil War, and even highly-anticipated flicks like Suicide Squad were failures in one or more respect.
This week we'll be reviewing our biggest hits of the summer and our biggest disappointments, as well as taking your calls in Fanviews for your thoughts on the summer movie season. We'll also revisit Dan and Kevin's commentary from the Suicide Squad episode on the end of summer and hear what they thought.
All that, and a quick shot of Epic Previews this week as we skew more toward the awards season! We'll be checking out trailers for American Honey, Certain Women, and Manchester By the Sea, all of which are primed to rack up some wins this awards season. We'll also take a look at the trailer for Men of Courage: USS Indianapolis starring Nicolas Cage. I'll also be discussing my appearance on the InSession film podcast this past weekend where we discussed our most-anticipated movies of the fall and had an engaging discussion about the best-ever year for film (in our opinion). I'll share what my selection was, and you can weigh in on the topic as well either on Fanviews or on social media!
We'll also be talking about some upcoming changes with the show's format, things that myself and Justin are extremely excited about. October is just around the corner and we'll talk briefly about some things coming down the road, from the horror challenge to our next crossover with The Countdown: Movie and TV reviews. We'll see you at the movies!

Episode 061 - Remembering Gene Wilder
Thursday Sep 01, 2016
Thursday Sep 01, 2016
A pall of sadness has settled over the Epic Film Guys podcast, as today on recording day (08/29) we learned of the passing of comedic legend Gene Wilder, star of such classic films as The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, among others. Tonight we'll talk about our five favorite Gene Wilder films, and we're also going to be including your thoughts on the late actor in our Fanviews segment.
Also this week, something you probably never thought you'd hear from the Epic Film Guys... praise for something Marvel did! We'll check out the hilarious video from the Civil War Blu-Ray that features Thor wishing he was included on the action in Captain America: Civil War, but instead has moved into an apartment in Australia. The short was directed by Taika Waititi, the director of the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, and someone whose praises have already been sung over on our brother podcast, The Countdown Movie and TV reviews.
We had a lot more content recorded for this week, but due to some circumstances we'll discuss next week and my need for sleep, I decided to cut our discussion of Ben Affleck's Deathstroke reveal and the casting of Zendaya in Spider-Man: Homecoming and leave them for next week's show or possibly a mid-week mini-sode. In the meantime, please enjoy the episode, and we'll see you at the movies!
